This 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL is said to have been sold new in Colorado and it underwent a refurbishment under previous ownership in 2014. The car is finished in beige metallic with a beige soft top over beige upholstery, and power comes from a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. An October 2020 service included the installation of new carburetor and intake manifold gaskets as well as a repair of the shift linkage. This 190SL is now offered by its private owner with an owner’s manual and service records, and Belgian registration in the owner’s name.
Delivered from the factory in Black, the car was stripped to bare metal under previous ownership and received rust repair in the headlight buckets and around the quarter panel eyebrows before a repaint in its current silver. Features include chrome trim and bumpers with overriders and a driver-side & passenger-side mirror.
The beigesoft top features a plastic rear window and is stowed under a beige leather top boot. The painted steel 13″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps with body-color centers as well as beauty rings. A matching spare wheel is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by vacuum-assisted drums all around.
Said to be delivered from the factory with blue upholstery, the cabin features bucket seats that were retrimmed in beige leather during the 2010s refurbishment. Features include lap belts, a clock, and a refurbished original radio.
The ivory-color two-spoke steering wheel is accented by a chrome horn ring and frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level gauges. Just over 27k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, 3,000 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four features a single overhead camshaft and breathes through a pair of Solex side-draft carburetors. New carburetor and intake manifold gaskets were installed in October 2020, and an oil change was performed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. A repair of the shifter linkage was performed in October 2020.
