This 1971 MGB Roadster is freshly imported from Ohio to Rotterdam, Holland. The car received a cosmetic refurbishment in 2003 including a repaint along with a new interior. The last owner purchased the car in 2015 and the B-Series inline-four was then rebuilt using new pistons, cam, lifters, oil pump/cooler, water pump, later-series pushrods, and valves with hardened seats. They also installed rebuilt twin SU carbs, swapped to a 4-speed overdrive manual transmission, added a rebuilt rear end, and installed electronic ignition. Prior to the sale all fluids were changed as well as a new oil filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires and a full tune up were performed. This MGB is offered with numerous spares, Haynes/Bentley shop manuals, period sales materials, a clean Ohio title and EU import papers stating all import duties are paid.
Prep for the repaint is shown in several gallery photos and is said to have included replacement of inner/outer passenger-side sills. The driver-quality finish includes some dust specks and two small cracks below the driver’s vent window. There is also a small rust spot in the floor below the driver’ left foot, and two similar holes in the floor have reportedly been repaired with new metal.
14″ Minilite wheels were added in 2008 and wear Bridgestone Turanza EL400 tires all around. The trunk hold a non-matching spare. A newer black vinyl top and an older tonneau cover are both included.
The 2003 interior refurbishment included new upholstery, door panels, and cabin/trunk carpets. New covers to the dash fascia and top were added by the seller to address cracks, while the stock British Leyland radio is working and has a small repair to one corner of the faceplate. A Sony DSX-A400BT AM/FM stereo head unit with Bluetooth/USB/MP3 connectivity and remote is concealed under the dash, and Sony speakers have been placed behind the seats.
Oil pressure and RPM are shown in the video above with the engine at idle. The 5-digit odometer registers about 9,900 miles, which is not believed accurate. A VIN decode provides these build details:

Stamping 18GK-WE-H 20594 indicates a 1,798cc five main bearing engine, built October 1970-71 for the US market. A 2016 rebuild included cylinders bored 0.020 over by Solak’s Automotive Specialties in Mantua, Ohio. Work also included machining the crank and adding a new cam, pistons, lifters, valves with hardened seats, oil pump/cooler, water pump and seals. Pushrods and tappets from a later series MGB were also used.
A close-up view of the engine at idle is captured in this short clip. Under-hood updates include:
Rebuilt twin SU carbs, chromed dashpots / air cleaners
Rebuilt 25D distributor, with vacuum advance
Pertronix electronic ignition
12-volt battery conversion
Battery disconnect key positioned behind the driver’s seat
Electric fuel pump
High-performance plastic radiator fan
New brake and clutch master cylinders
New Borg and Beck clutch with roller-style release bearing
The transmission was swapped in 2016 for a unit with factory overdrive, and a rebuilt rear end was added in 2017. Front wheel bearings have been rebuilt, poly suspension bushings were added all around, and the exhaust has a chrome Monza twin-tip exit. Inspection of a 1″ underside rust spot near the driver-side rear wheel reportedly found corrosion does not extend into the sill.
Many spares in unrestored/used condition are shown in gallery photos and include the following:
