This 1979 Fiat X1/9 is said to have stayed with its original owner until the seller purchased it from a dealer about a year ago. The car now shows just just over 19k miles and reportedly retains its original paint, interior, and powertrain. Power comes from a carbureted 1.5-liter inline-four paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle. At 19,047 miles, the car was serviced including a new timing belt, new brake calipers, a new catalytic converter, new fuel tank/lines, battery, various filters, new spark plugs, a rebuilt carburetor, new alternator, intake gasket, and a new electric fuel pump. The replaced OEM parts are included. This Fiat is now offered with all of its factory books including a stamped warranty book and supplements, a Haynes repair manual and Dutch registration.
The X1/9 received its first makeover for the 1979 model-year, including square aluminium bumpers, a horizontal slat front grille, drivetrain improvements, and a raised rear cover to accommodate the taller engine. According to a factory paint sticker highlighted in the photo gallery below, this X1/9 is finished in Oro Metallic. The seller states that the car retains all of its factory paint, and two paint chips are shown in the photo gallery below.
The factory 13″ alloy wheels appear to be in good condition in these pictures, and reportedly wear their original Michelin X2 tires which display cracking and will need to be replaced. The seller has taken pictures of the front compartment, which is covered in original rust-proofing. A complete tool kit, spare, and jack are also shown in the photo gallery.
The X1/9 interior was revised for the 1979 model year with updated seats and a new dashboard design as shown below. The driver’s seat shows slight wear according to the seller.
One small crack is present near the lower right-hand corner of the dashboard’s defrost vent as shown above. The cabin is completely stock to the seller’s knowledge, though the radio is currently disconnected due to a drain on the battery.
The 1.5-liter inline-four features Bosch electronic ignition and is described to be unmodified. An extensive servicing was conducted less than 100 miles ago as mentioned above, and the seller states that the car runs well.
Additional undercarriage pictures can be viewed in the photo gallery.
Factory books, a stamped warranty book, and supplements for the tires and radio will accompany the sale. A Haynes repair manual is also included.
